Remove Friable Asbestos Class A
Any person intending to apply for a licence to remove friable asbestos Class A and/or non friable asbestos Class B.
The White card (Australia) Site Safe (New Zealand), or other similar proprietary health and safety induction certification recognised in New Zealand.
The Remove Friable Asbestos course is designed for anyone currently working in the asbestos removal industry wanting to gain a formal New Zealand NZQA Asbestos qualification.
This course is a prerequisite for application for an Asbestos Removal Licence from WorkSafe NZ for either friable (class A) and non-friable (Class B) Asbestos removal.
The course content focuses on:
- Prepare for friable asbestos removal
- Prepare asbestos removal area and removal site
- Isolate Removal site
- Carry our friable removal process
- Carry out decontamination process
- Clean up work site
- Contribute and use documentation in line with New Zealand regulatory requirements
This course is delivered by a Greencap Principal Consultant and Licensed Assessor with 30 years friable asbestos experience, in association with NZQA accredited PTE - NZSafetyBlackwoods Worksafe Training.

Unit of Competency:
NZQA Unit standard 29766 will be issued to successful students upon completion of the course.

NZQA Unit standards 29766 and 29767 will be issued to successful students upon completion.
People credited with this unit standard are able to:
- Plan for Asbestos removal
- Supervise testing, compliance, and documentation in consultation with the assessor and the asbestos removalist
- Oversee removal and decontamination processes
- Supervise and support team members.
Formal examination and assessment process directly upon course completion. The assessment is moderated against NZQA unit standard 29766.
Training is delivered within a public training facility utilising theory and practical activities. Delivery will include instructor led presentations / scenarios, practical activities, and group exercises.
